Corporate Controller - Hospitality
As a Corporate Controller at the Westin Bear Mountain Resort & Spa, you will play a vital role in overseeing the Accounting and Finance Department. This position manages strategic and tactical functions in order to support operational decision making and help the business navigate change. You must be able to make difficult, reasoned decisions and explain complex accounting, financial, and business concepts to others in a way that they can understand.

Accounting
Manages day to day operations of the accounting/finance department
Prepares reporting and financial statements
Directs the preparation of annual reports
Creates corporate forecasting, operating and capital budgeting
Oversees accounting transactions, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Payroll
Manages the accounting operations of subsidiary entities
Oversees all activities relating to the financial aspects of the hotel/various departments
Adheres to GAAP Accounting practices and requirement by regulatory bodies. Ensures compliance with local/municipal, provincial and federal laws.
Develops and enhances internal control system
Approves procurement
Develops and manages cost controls
Preserves an efficient accounting filing system
Preserves a directory of executed contractual documents
Compliance
Ensures accounting standards and federal and provincial regulatory requirements are met
Creates and ensures compliance of accounting policies and procedures
Performs primary liaison for auditors
Interprets accounting, legislative, contractual, franchise, hotel’s SOPs and regulations to ensure compliance. Ensure that requirements are disseminated to appropriate staff
Reporting
Creates relevant, useful and timely monthly, quarterly and annual report for internal stakeholders as per accounting and financial best practice
Makes recommendations based on report analysis
Creates report for external stakeholders as needed
About the qualifications
A Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance.
A CPA designation is preferred.
Previous experience in the Canadian hospitality industry using PMS (Galaxy Lightspeed) and various Hospitality/Resort POS system (Oracle Simphony/Micros) is desired.
A strong business and financial acumen.
Experience using integrated Accounting software and knowledge of NetSuite is desired.
Strong leadership qualities and experience in leading a team are required.
