User Experience Practitioner

 $66,557.72 - $75,884.38 annually plus 6.6% Temporary Market Adjustment


British Columbia’s Natural Resource Ministries (NRM) are the stewards of the Province’s Crown land and natural resources which reflect the diverse values and interests of all British Columbians.


The Information, Innovation and Technology (IIT) Division is leading the modernization and transformation of business practices for the NRM through continuous improvement projects, new technology options and operational information management/information technology (IM/IT). The IIT Division is providing leadership for IM/IT planning, policy and business process solutions and is also the single authority for all information and technology across the NRM.


The User Experience Practitioner performs all aspects of user research and design, delivering user experiences on scalable digital products, ensuring that the solution meets user and stakeholder needs. In this role you manage user experience design deliverables for projects involving agile product teams, maintaining the voice of the customer to ensure that user-centered research and design principles are incorporated into technology build strategies. You also research and analyze user behaviour, preferences, objectives and working methods to align user and business requirements.


Qualifications for this role include:

  • Degree, diploma or certificate in a design or technology discipline; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • A minimum of 3 years’ demonstrable experience in user interface design processes and methodology, user-centered design principles and practices.


Related experience may include a combination of the following:

  • Experience in information architecture or user interface design.
  • Experience developing and executing user research plans at all stages of the product lifecycle.
  • Experience with modern mock-up and prototyping tools.
