Hudson Wren is a full-service portrait studio creating heirloom black and white photographs of children, families, and canines. We are growing with studios in Vancouver and Victoria.

We are seeking experienced temporary Part-Time Associate Photographers to join our team, with the possibility of a long-term position for suitable candidates.


This position is for Weekend availability - You must be available Saturday and Sunday. Approx 8 -12 hours a week.


Overview: The Associate Photographer takes children, families, and canine portraits, following Studio standards and practices.


Primary Responsibilities:


  • Capture memories and create an exceptional experience for our clients.
  • Coordinate with families before the shoot to prepare them for what to expect. Get to know them and develop a rapport
  • Greets all studio visitors and guests warmly and promptly
  • Builds rapport with children and their families, ensuring a relaxed, comfortable, and fun experience
  • Ensure all equipment is in place according to procedures
  • Archives images and organizes files.
  • Photograph subjects per Studio procedures and standards
  • Ensures each client's visit is a pleasant and memorable experience
  • Drive towards continuous improvement and creative solutions
  • Follow all confidentiality procedures to ensure client information is kept secure and confidential at all times
  • Oversees brand standards, lighting technique, and image quality.
  • Ability to deal with multiple and changing priorities
  • Shut down equipment at the end of the shoot following Studio procedures. Keep the workspace tidy and clean after each session and end of the day.
  • Actively participates in-studio meetings.
  • Photograph a variety of subjects, both children and adults, individually or in groups
  • Other duties as assigned by the Owner


Knowledge & Skills:


  • Ability to calm the nerves of both children and their family members and ensure children have a relaxed, comfortable and fun experience
  • Create a fantastic rapport with children and their families
  • Ability to maintain a professional and positive attitude in a fast-paced, client-facing environment
  • Ability to work calmly and effectively under deadlines
  • Excellent written & verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work autonomously and be self-directed
  • Cooperative & collaborative team member. Ability to communicate professionally and respectfully with all clients, co-workers, vendors and business partners
  • Ability to be reliable, punctual and organized for all work activities
  • Social media skills, including Facebook, Instagram, Tik Tok, Pinterest, and YouTube
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop and Lightroom


Education & Work Experience:


Must have a keen eye for detail and visual aesthetics and MUST have an excellent rapport with children and their families. Previous professional experience photographing newborns, children, and families requires a minimum of two years of experience photographing children and families.

Working Conditions/Physical Demands:


Work is usually performed indoors with long-standing, crouching or kneeling periods. The environment is oriented to customer service and subject to constant work interruptions. Employees may work under continual client contact and pressure to meet deadlines. The employee must be able to move about the facility to communicate with clients and staff members. Must frequently lift and move up to 30 pounds.

DETAILS


-Training provided, but experience necessary, especially with studio strobes


-Must be able to use a DSLR in manual mode


REQUIREMENTS


-Basic computer skills, including editing software (Photoshop/Lightroom)


-Must be comfortable with babies, children, and pets (baby photography experience preferred)


-Enjoy an entrepreneurial environment and work independently


-Friendly, helpful, energetic personality


-Customer service and creating an inviting memorable experience and sales experience are a plus!


Compensation:

Based on experience. $25 an hour to start.


No phone calls or stopping by the studio unannounced
