The Health Sector Information Management/Information Technology (HSIMT) division provides a coordinated approach to information management and information technology (IM/IT) services across the Ministry of Health and provincial health sector. The division promotes the integration of health sector data into daily business operations, policy development, provides sector-wide leadership for IM/IT planning and business solutions and delivers information services directly to B.C. citizens. Within this division, the Digital Policy, Security and Privacy (DPSP) branch is accountable for the design, implementation, and continual advancement of the provincial information privacy and security framework. DPSP provides information privacy and security, leadership, expertise and advice regarding legislation, regulation, policies, industry standards, and best practices for the health sector.

 

As the Security Analyst, you will deliver the ministry’s information security program by providing support and advice for internal and external clients, ensuring all activity conforms to corporate security policy and procedures and other relevant legislation, and meets the highest security standards for a variety of sensitive information. In the role, you will also be analyzing client operations management of ministry and information protection controls and processes relating to ministry information assets. Additionally, you will provide guidance and direction on interpretation of policies and standards (including providing interim policy direction) and initiate development of ministry, health sector or provincial policy/standards as appropriate. In the role you will also be providing tactical information security expertise to Ministry of Health IM/IT initiatives, projects and ongoing programs. If you have the expertise, a passion to serve clients and thrive in a team-based environment, we encourage you to apply

Qualifications for this role include:

  • Degree, diploma, certification or equivalent within the computer science field.
  • Certification as a security professional (e.g. Certified Information Systems Security Professional, or Certified Information Security Manager).
  • Minimum of 3 years of broad IM/IT experience, preference may be given to 4 years or more.
  • Minimum of 1 year of information security experience, preference may be given for more than 1-year experience.
  • Experience in identifying and evaluating risks from a business and technological standpoint.
