As the Root Cellar continues to grow, we are adding an experienced full-time Produce Manager to our Oxford Corner team. Our best-in-class produce department is at the heart of the Root Cellar, and our Produce Manager is a strong leader who shares our enthusiasm for food, community, and teamwork. Our customer-facing produce department is an upbeat work environment where we take great pride in elevating both food appreciation and food values.

As our Produce Manager, you’ll be as enthusiastic about good food and good people as we are. You’ll lead by example, hiring, coaching, training, and empowering our produce team, providing exceptional service to our customers, and nurturing relationships with vendors and community members. You share our eye for detail, our focus on continuous improvement, and our passion for quality, and you’re excited to put our values to work, collaborating with the rest of our management team to set and surpass KPIs. 


Growing up in British Columbia, the family root cellar was a place in our homes where we could always find good quality, garden grown, fresh & preserved foods. Our family owned market operates with a local focus, always buying from as close to home as possible to provide the communities of Victoria with the same.

  • 3+ years of produce department experience.
  • 2+ years of management experience in a related role (produce management, produce buying, or both).
  • Flexibility to work a variety of hours including days, evenings, and weekends.
  • Strong business sense + proven track record of positive results.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • A passion for food and a love for fast paced work environments.
