The Marketing and Recruitment Assistant in the School of Health Information Science assists with marketing, advertising, promotions and recruitment within the school. This includes promoting the School’s programs, events and research through the school’s social media accounts, digital and print advertising, and in-person and online recruitment events.


This is a key role for the school as effective and coordinated marketing strategies, particularly via social media channels, are critical for student recruitment, promotion of current and emerging programs and research in our school, and developing and maintaining relationships with students, alumni, research partners, coop employers, etc.


The position works closely with the faculty and staff of the School of Health Information Science and University Communications and Marketing (UC+M) to ensure that the school’s social media, marketing and advertising efforts reflect specific needs of the school, under the strategic plans of the university and faculty.

This includes online and print advertising and marketing, digital photography and video coordination with UC+M, and online and print publications.

The position will be responsible for curating and maintaining the school’s digital assets, as well as monitoring online metrics.


Duties include:

  • Working with the faculty and staff members of the school to create and implement the School’s Marketing and Recruitment Initiatives
  • Coordinating and evaluating the school’s social media posts and metrics
  • Coordinating print and digital advertisements and promotions for the school and its programs
  • Scheduling photo and video shoots with UC+M for the school
  • Maintaining the repository of photos and videos for the school
  • Sourcing stock photos as necessary

Job Requirements


Experience:

Must have a minimum of two (2) years of recent experience in a similar position, preferably in a post-secondary or institutional environment or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Related work experience should include:

  • Experience in marketing, social media, digital media production, and/or student recruitment. Creating and scheduling social media posts in line with a social media strategy and content strategy
  • Marketing material development
  • Tracking/reporting on social media metrics and analytics

 

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Sound knowledge of social media platforms and scheduling tools, their respective participants (Facebook, Twitter, youtube, Instagram, etc.) and how each platform can be optimally deployed in different scenarios
  • Strong writing ability, with a view to marketing and/or engaging an audience
  • Superior interpersonal and communication skills (both written and oral) demonstrating good judgement, sensitivity, tact, diplomacy, initiative, and discretion
  • Commitment to service excellence
  • Excellent analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Good judgement and the ability to problem-solve with tact, diplomacy and sound judgment
  • Ability to synthesize and share information effectively
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and an ability to handle concurrent projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work effectively, both independently and collaboratively, in a team environment with a wide range of individuals
  • Ability to adapt to new technologies and changing priorities
  • Excellent computer skills, including knowledge of and experience with spreadsheet and database software
  • Knowledge of an academic, research-intensive organizational environment is an asset
  • Working knowledge of student recruitment marketing in the post-secondary environment is an asset
  • Experience with video and photo editing would be an asset

 

Specialized Knowledge/Education:

  • Secondary school graduation or equivalent
  • Some post-secondary coursework is preferred
