The Ministry of Finance Information Management Branch (IMB) is hiring a Database Administrator to join the System Infrastructure Support (SIS) team. The SIS team supports multiple business critical systems and applications for the Ministry including several Enterprise systems and works with multiple business partners to design, deliver and support Ministry system platforms and infrastructure. This rule includes opportunities to improve operational processes and policies including identifying opportunities to maximize operations performance. As a Senior Technical Analyst, you will also participate on projects to deliver new IM/IT solutions to support business clients and Ministry initiatives.


As an experienced DBA you will design, develop, implement and maintain Ministry databases and supporting systems. You implement standards and practices for existing database usage and management, participate in the planning, design, development, implementation and maintenance of database environments. Working with architects and analysts you will deliver best fit solutions to a variety of ministries.

The Ministry has invested in Microsoft SQL Server extensively including leveraging SQL Server as the database management system for two Enterprise Ministry systems, the Taxpayer Administration and Compliance System (TACS) and Revenue Management System (RMS) as well as Shared Ministry SQL Server DMBS, SQL Server Reporting Services and Power BI platforms.

Job Requirements:


In order to be considered for this position, your application must clearly demonstrate how you meet the education and experience as outlined below:

  • Degree, diploma or certificate in the computer science field. A combination of education/training and experience may be considered.
  • Experience developing policy and standards documents.
  • Experience with SQL Server Database Administration.
  • Experience in modelling, process modelling, and/or business area analysis techniques.
  • Experience implementing and maintaining websites.
  • Experience managing Windows Server Operating Systems and related software.
  •  

Preference may be given to applicants with:

  • Experience with SQL Server Reporting Services
  • Experience with Power BI
  • Experience providing Database Administration with other database management systems such as MySQL, PostgreSQL and Oracle
  • Experience with Internet Information Server
  •
