THE BIG PICTURE

The General Manager reports to the Chief Executive officer and is responsible for the operational excellence of the Hudson Brewhouse and Distillery, including the recruitment, engagement, and management of its leadership team and employees, its ability to consistently exceed customers' expectations, and its performance against key performance indicators. Candidates must share Hudson Brew Corp's commitment to quality, safety, business ethics, and continuous innovation.


THE EVERYDAY VIEW

  • Oversee the day to day operations
  • Create an environment that encourages ownership, accountability, and maintains the highest standards of spirits, beer, food, and service
  • Oversee all administrative requirements labour , cash handling, completion of guest liability, property, casualty, worker's compensation reports and governmental compliance
  • Monitor and ensure staff adherence to health department regulations regarding food handling, storage, temperature, and sanitation
  • Coach, support, and maintain continuous communication with all property staff
  • Develop and maintain continuous education opportunities
  • Coordinate with front and back of house managers to write and oversee schedules that include regular training opportunities and other staff development programs
  • Develop and implement policies, procedures and rules
  • Develop initiatives to build sales, profitability and guest counts
  • Work with CEO and Management team to implement departmental initiatives, SOP rollouts, etc.
  • In coordination with the management team, be responsible for hiring, scheduling, training, evaluating, and issuing corrective actions for all property personnel, in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws
  • Ensure all menu items are made according to recipe and that presentation is up to Hudson Brew Corp standards
  • Ensure all operational basics and standards are adhered to with total commitment and passion
  • Adhere to company standards and service levels to increases sales and minimize costs
  • Estimate purchasing needs and placing orders within established guidelines
  • Manage profit and loss analysis statement and labor cost reporting, while anticipating trends and recommending solutions
  • Prepare reports regarding food and menu analysis, pour costs, and overall property KPIs
  • Collaborate with the Hudson Brew Corp team to develop and implement internal and external marketing initiatives, including but not limited to in-store promotions, community involvement, off-site events, social media involvement, and employee engagement
  • Work with the executive team and the local sales force to take advantage of opportunities to host and/or collaborate with accounts and partners
  • Become an expert in all things Hudson Brewhouse Beer and Spirits and develop menu items that complement these products
  • Be a team player and be able to interact with all levels within the organization
  • Adhere to and enforce all applicable local, provincial and federal laws, rules, and regulations
  • Other tasks as needed


THE MANAGER VIEW

  • Assist in the hiring, onboarding, training, and development of all team members
  • Provide training and directives for their reporting people managers
  • Maintain an active presence during service hours and assist team members as needed
  • Hold routine meetings with management team to discuss property performance and goal setting
  • Demonstrate effective and timely communication with direct employees, customers, outside vendors, and all other Hudson Brew Corp personnel
  • Respond to and be an active participant in projects and requests from all Hudson Brewhouse and Distillery departments/divisions regarding the
  • Keep the CEO promptly and fully informed of all issues (i.e. problems, unusual matters of significance and positive events) and take prompt corrective action where necessary or suggest alternative courses of action
  • Responsible for submitting and approving payroll of any hourly reports by deadlines established by the People Operations team
  • Guide, mediate and properly document employee issues, disputes, or performance problems as needed
  • Regularly evaluate employees on skills and behavior as it pertains to their position, continually assessing your team in order to uphold best talent standards for the organization
  • Proactively seek out education and training on best management practices to continually better your skills and abilities as a leader

DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Able to pass a post-offer, pre-employment background check
  • Serving it Right Certification or equivalent is require
  • tertiary qualification preferred
  • previous experience in food and beverage management
  • in-depth working knowledge of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages
  • experience in staff management and development
  • knowledge of basic accounting principles and practices
  • experience in analyzing financial data
  • knowledge of planning and forecasting
  • track record of managing inventory and cost control
  • Able to use all tools associated with the position including but not limited to draft lines and point of sales systems
  • Able to review and comprehend recipes and other necessary documentation
  • Thorough knowledge of food products, standard recipes and proper food preparation techniques
  • Complete understanding of restaurant operations
  • Demonstrated organizational skills, attention to detail, budgeting experience and full understanding of financials
  • Demonstrated word processing and spreadsheet computer applications
  • Able to positively observe, communicate with and direct the actions of subordinates
  • Able and willing to work in the front of house and back of house
  • Preferred Bachelor's Degree in Hospitality Restaurant Management or other culinary studies
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a genuine love and aptitude for meeting and interacting with people
  • Strong problem-solving skills through the ability to diagnose and implement solutions
  • Thorough attention to detail and desire to take initiative
  • Must adhere to company's policies and procedures
  • The desire to work in a fast-paced, growing company


PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Evening, weekend, and holiday availability required
  • Able to sit and work at a desk for prolonged periods of time
  • Able to be active for prolonged periods
  • Able to regularly lift, push, or pull up to 60 pounds
  • Able to maneuver packages of any weight above 75 pounds with appropriate equipment and/or assistance
  • Able to stoop, crawl, twist, turn, lift, and kneel
  • Able to lift heavy objects to shoulder height
  • Able to regularly lift, push, or pull up to 60 pounds
  • Able to both work and thrive in a high-stress environment that has a quiet to moderate noise level
  • Able to read and follow written English instructions
  • Able to safely navigate the tasting room, main pub kitchen, brewery and retail areas, including crowded spaces
  • Able to work in a factory/production environment which may be loud, slick, humid, cold, and hot
  • Able to work in indoor and outdoor environments with moderate noise and occasionally slippery floors
  • Able to comply with and enforce all health, safety, and personal hygiene policies and standards

Salary: $60,000.00-$65,000.00 per year
