Executive Director, Enterprise Architecture

 $105,700.02 - $134,800.02 annually


The Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO) leads strategy, policy and standards for telecommunications, information technology, IT security and the management of the IM/IT investment portfolio for the Province. The OCIO is accountable for the operation of a broad government technology infrastructure as a key enabler in support of business transformation for Government, Broader Public Sector organizations and through participation inter-jurisdictionally on initiatives to evolve technology and business.


The Office of the Chief Information Officer is leading the development of an integrated cross-government approach to digital government. The Executive Director, Enterprise Architecture is responsible for creating the strategies and structures enabling the transition to a digital government. Especially focused in areas concerning common components, cloud, future state architectures and the requisite organizational change management necessary to ensure their successful adoption.


 Qualifications for this role include:

  • Master’s Degree in a related discipline (e.g. information technology/management, computer science) and three (3) years of related experience; OR
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related discipline (e.g. information technology/management, computer science) and five (5) years of related experience; OR
  • Diploma in a related discipline (e.g. information technology/management, computer science) and seven (7) years of related experience; OR
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Related experience must include all of the following:

  • Experience at a senior level leading large scale, complex IT projects with multiple project delivery components, under high pressure and critical time constraints in a dynamic environment. 
  • Experience establishing collaborative relationships with executives and leading organizational change associated with implementation. 
  • Experience delivering presentations to executive decision makers (e.g. CEO, CFO, CIO, Board of Directors, Ministry Executive, cross-government ADM and DM committees), other internal and external stakeholders and industry representatives.
  • Experience leading and coaching multi-disciplinary senior level professionals and/or managers in the development and implementation of complex projects. 
  • Experience in developing, explaining, and presenting high level policy, practices, presentations, frameworks and strategic plans verbally and in writing, in a clear and concise style that is appropriate to the audience.
  • Experience in designing and monitoring the operation of large enterprise applications, remediating failures and performance issues, and applying disciplined change management practices.
  • Experience with applications hosted on a variety of platforms including Cloud in an IaaS, PaaS or SaaS model.
  • Experience in business planning.
