The salary range for this position is:

  • Recruitment range: $61,935 - $69,710 starting salary determined by the PEA Collective Agreement.


Performance range: starting salary to max of $81,286 is available through annual performance increases.


Job Summary

Reporting to the Manager, University Internet Strategies, the Coordinator, Web Design and Development is responsible for directing and advising all faculties and units on the appropriate implementation of the university’s web template, strategic approaches to the use of websites ensuring that all new website designs or redesigns are consistent with a common look and feel, the university brand, as well as meeting accessibility guidelines as indicated by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C).


Working closely with all units on campus, this position will also assist with the coordination of resources, planning, best practices, and project management aspects of all website projects. As a member of the University Communications + Marketing department, this position will also be jointly responsible for the management of central university resources relating to the web communications that are part of the department’s portfolio (such as the home and central service website and pages).

This position will also be critical to the ongoing strategic assessment of university web communications needs, trends in relevant technologies, and forecasting for opportunities that will help us to remain competitive with other higher education institutions.


Job Requirements

The successful candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate discipline and at least 3 years’ experience in web design and development, and communications and marketing, or have an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.


This position will require strong project management and customer service skills to balance consistently the strategic communications and marketing requirements of the university with the objectives of a diverse community of academic and administrative units. The position will also require a solid understanding of information architecture and user experience for the purposes of assisting with site planning, and a good working knowledge of, and experience with XHTML, CSS, content management systems, and web accessibility best practices.


Excellent organizational skills, and an ability to handle many concurrent projects and deadlines are essential. Exceptional communications and interpersonal skills are also essential, including a demonstrated ability to negotiate, build teams, and to interact and build consensus among a wide range of partners.


Knowledge and experience in a post-secondary work environment is also valuable.
