We are currently looking for the following positions in

both the Main and Pastry Kitchens


1st Cook (Journeyperson) $28.43hr

3rd Cook (Cook's assistant) $24.44hr

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Possess a complete understanding of the menus and syllabus

Ensure all food is prepared according to the recipes and standards specified by the Chef and Chef de Parties

Delegate and assign duties to Cooks Assistants to ensure a consistently high level of productivity

Contribute ideas to Seasonal menu development and assist in the creation of Fresh Sheet items, Tasting Menu items etc

Demonstrate the importance of food and labour cost

Monitor and communicate Food Safe Standards to ensure all food is properly stored, labeled and rotated

Promote professional work habits and contribute to a maintaining a safe and positive environment

 

QUALIFICATIONS

 

Journeyperson’s papers, Red Seal or equivalents

Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a hotel or kitchen of comparable size

Completely fluent English language and communication skills, both written and verbal

Successful completion of practical cooking test

Food safe certificate

Excellent organizational skills and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment

Strong artistic skills in food presentation

High level of responsibility and commitment

Team player with proven success in relationship building

Strong leadership and motivational skills and ability to effectively train and develop co-workers

Commitment to providing excellent service and exceeding guests' expectations

Available to work flexible shifts

Physically capable of:

o  Continuous standing for extended periods of time

o  Frequent lifting and carrying of up to 50lbs

o  Working in hot and cold environments

 

NOTE: The positions of Cook 1 and 3 are physically demanding. The successful applicant must be physically capable of performing repetitive work, as well as lifting and carrying heavy loads up to 50lbs. Must be able to stand for long periods of time (for up to 8 hours). Must be able to work in both hot (behind the line) and cold station (fridge/freezer) environments.
