GENERAL MANAGERDUNCAN KIWANIS VILLAGE SOCIETYThe Duncan Kiwanis Village Society is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing quality independent living for modest-income seniors. The Society owns/operates Duncan Kiwanis Village - a 79-suite Seniors Housing Complex located in Duncan, BC. The Society also owns 2 rental houses, adjacent to the complex.As General Manager, you are responsible for the effective operation of the residential buildings committed to your care and for a common-sense approach to the safety and security of the tenants and facilities of Duncan Kiwanis Village. This position offers 28 hours per week, at a rate commensurate with experience. The position is available immediately and the present Manager, or designate, can provide on-site training and assistance.You will liaise with tenants, respecting their independence, yet supporting them on an as-needed basis, through oral and/or written communications. You may also be required to reach out to their families or advocates, when necessary.You must have current knowledge of the BC Residential Tenancy Act, BC Housing and Management Commission, CAFT (Customer Automated Funds Transfer) direct deposit system, and familiarity with Simply Accounting (SAGE) for invoice and payment control. You must have current knowledge of Best Building Practices and experience in supervising maintenance contracts with systems and building professionals and have experience in obtaining contract quotes and preparing operating budgets. Proficiency in both Microsoft Word and Excel programs is essential. As General Manager, you are responsible for the direct supervision of 2 part-time employees - a Maintenance Assistant and a Janitorial Assistant.
