The Justice Services Branch (JSB) is responsible for policy development, law reform and justice transformation in the areas of administrative, civil, criminal and family justice. JSB provides direct family justice services through the Family Justice Services Division and the Maintenance, Enforcement and Locate Services. JSB works with administrative tribunals, the courts, the legal professions, other ministries, and a range of community agencies and associations to increase access to justice. In addition, JSB executes the ministry’s oversight responsibilities with respect to the Legal Services Society.

JSB is responsible for the development of policy, programs and legislation on a very broad range of matters, including access to justice, administrative justice, dispute resolution (including arbitration, mediation and online dispute resolution), civil law reform, electoral reform, court rules, criminal justice, family law, human rights law, and legal aid. JSB manages the largest legislative program in government responsible for over 100 statutes. In collaboration with partners and stakeholders, JSB is a leader in BC’s law reform and justice transformation work.


The position works under limited supervision and is responsible for coordinating administrative services to support the Executive Directors of the Policy and Legislation Division (PLD) and the Family Policy, Legislation and Transformation Division (FPLTD) along with the Policy Analysts and Legal Counsel who report to the Executive Directors. The position performs human resource, payroll and leave management functions and monitors the operation and maintenance of computer systems, programs and equipment for the Divisions. The position performs purchasing, budget and financial expenditure functions for the PLD and FPLTD offices. The office manager directly supervises 3 administrative staff.

Job Requirements:


In order to be considered for this position, your application must clearly demonstrate how you meet the education and experience as outlined below:

  • Grade 12 diploma or equivalent plus a minimum of three years administrative support work experience or equivalent.
  • Three years’ work experience must include all of the following:
  • Extensive experience and expertise working with various computer applications, such as MS Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Experience developing and implementing office procedures and policies.
  • Experience with the proper form of business letters and business English.
  • Experience managing workflow and balancing priorities in a fast-paced environment.


Preferences may be given to candidates with

  • Previous supervisory experience.
  • Experience working with CLIFF.
  • Experience working with eApprovals.
  • Experience with records management such as ARCS/ORCS.
  • Experience with iProcurement, iExpense and Time and Leave Management System (TLAM).
