The Lieutenant Governor is the personal representative in the province of the Queen in Canada. As such, the position is not only the Chief Executive Officer of the government but is also the embodiment of the Crown in British Columbia. The Office of the Lieutenant Governor and Government House itself is multi-dimensional, supporting several distinct lines of business including constitutional and international protocol matters, ceremonial and hospitality events, and the management and maintenance of Government House as a National Historic Site. The Office of the Lieutenant Governor is managed and maintained by staff and others, who coordinate constitutional, ceremonial, protocol, diplomatic, administrative and operational activities at Government House and other locations. 

The Finance and Operations Officer (FOO) provides financial and operational support service for Government House, the official office and residence of the Lieutenant Governor. The FOO works in support of the Operations Manager. The position must be able to prioritize workload, work well independently, and demonstrate a high degree of professionalism, in accordance with the protocol of the Office. In all areas of responsibility, the position is expected to deal with a wide variety of VIPs, government managers and staff, and the general public, and to do so in a manner which reflects and conveys a positive and professional image of Government House and the Office of the Lieutenant Governor.

Job Requirements:

In order to be considered for this position, your application must clearly demonstrate how you meet the education and experience as outlined below:

  • Post-secondary certificate or higher in Business Administration, Commerce, Finance, Accounting, or other related fields.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Minimum of one (1) year experience in a financial processing role.
  • Experience coordinating the assembly of financial data.
  • Experience developing financial statements and reports.
  • Experience in accounts receivable or payable in a computerized environment.
  • Experience using Microsoft Excel developing and maintaining spreadsheets and preparing financial reports.
  • Experience interpreting and applying legislation, policies, and procedures.


Preference may be given to applicants with:

  • Experience with the government Corporate Financial System (CFS).
  • Experience using Sage Accounting software.
  • Experience in ARCS / ORCS.
  • Supervisory experience.
