Client Computing Specialist

Remote Victoria, BC

Reporting to the Manager, End User Computing, the Client Computing Specialist is responsible for supporting technical environment operations and providing second level technical support services. The Client Computing Specialist drives device imaging and related releases, device management solutions (i.e., Microsoft Endpoint Manager, Microsoft Configuration Manager, etc.), and end-user hardware and software standardization, utilizing system vulnerability scanning and GPO administration services. This position also provides second level technical support to the Service Desk and deskside support teams to ensure timely and accurate support for unresolved end-user escalations.


S/he/they are an integral part of the effective and efficient delivery of technical operations and its continuous modernization, and will collaborate and communicate with members of cross-functional teams in an Agile hybrid environment.


WHAT YOU BRING

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Diploma in Computer Technology with over 3 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education, training and experience
  • Experience with or exposure to cyber security controls and practices, in particular to system security breaches and other varying methodologies of data exploitation
  • Experience with Windows client OS, desktop technologies, vulnerability assessments and patching tools including Tenable and Microsoft Configuration Manager
  • Experience with imaging technologies and virtual technologies, concepts and best practices with demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills in these areas
  • Excellent customer service, listening and communications skills with a client service focus
  • Must be available for flexible work hours: occasional evening/weekend work, different work shifts, and on-call availability
  • Must be physically able to assemble/disassemble/move client and server class equipment and storage
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Additional knowledge and skill areas are an asset but not required:
  • Technical writing and documentation skills, and working knowledge of ticket and task management tools including ServiceNow and JIRA
  • Experience with scripting and automation, including PowerShell or Windows Batch File
  • Experience with Intune MDM platform and Azure Cloud Platform
  • Experience maintaining Mac iOS
  • Experience with Agile methodologies and DevOps practices


PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develops and implements patch and vulnerability processes for remediation including package creation, testing and deployment
  • Coordinates patch scheduling with other technical teams
  • Researches and provides guidance on new client facing utility applications and hardware as they are introduced into BCI’s environment
  • Provides second level support to Service Desk and deskside support teams for end-user escalations not resolved through standard support channels
  • Configures, installs, maintains and troubleshoots multi-environment/platform hardware and software, including client OS patching and virtual server environments
  • Recommends and implements improvements to end user technical architecture, upgrades, performance tuning and configuration changes
  • Contributes to technical roadmaps with a focus on mobile and desktop technologies including hardware, OS, applications, virtualization products and imaging technologies
  • Keeps up-to-date with the current cyber security threat landscape, emerging attack vectors, and vulnerability trends
  • Performs system vulnerability scanning and group policy administration (GPO) using Active Directory to centrally manage and configure operating systems, applications, and settings
  • Contributes to the development, implementation and maintenance of policies and procedures for technical environment operations and support services
  • Actively adheres to compliance and risk management policies and contributes to disaster recovery initiatives and corporate business continuity planning
  • Ensures technical documentation is accurate, accessible, maintained and communicated
  • Undertakes special projects or assignments as required
  • Performs other related duties as required
