The successful applicant will enjoy early starts 5am.

POSITION PURPOSE:

The position supports the other production shifts by completing tasks to facilitate the timely completion of bakers’ shifts, whether that includes prep work, baking assistance, inventory storing or cleaning.

REPORTS TO: Kitchen Manager/Supervisor, General Manager

RESPONSIBILITIES:

- produce items on task lists as delegated by Lead Baker or Kitchen Manager/Supervisor

- for baking tasks, follow recipes as specified, and ask for clarifications on recipe as needed

- properly and carefully operate kitchen equipment and machinery

- notify supervisor of low stock or changes in production/ingredients

- use ‘FIRST IN FIRST OUT’ method of stock rotation

- ensure inventory is stored properly (ie - off the floor and organized)

- general cleaning may include vacuuming ingredient bins, washing down equipment, washing and storing dishes, sweeping and mopping

- general prep duties may include juicing fruit, preparing peel for candying, cleaning, cutting, roasting and storing vegetables/fruit, crumbing bread, cutting croutons, scooping cookies, and generally assisting other baking shifts

- maintain a tidy workspace, and ensure area is cleaned after tasks

- communicate positively and effectively with co-workers and management

- other reasonable duties as assigned

POSITION REQUIREMENTS: (outside Origin’s Employee Standards and Guidelines)

- comfortable with written and spoken English

- able to lift up to 25 kg without assistance

- effective interpersonal, oral and written communication skills

- able to maintain good rapport with co-workers

- positive attitude and willingness to learn in a fast paced environment

- able to complete tasks required

- Food Safe certification

Job Type: Permanent

Salary: $16.00-$19.10 per hour
